Iconic singer to appear at Glee.
Legendary frontman and founding member of the Byrds, Roger McGuinn, will be appearing in Birmingham as part of his forthcoming UK tour.
McGuinn returns to Britain for a string of dates this autumn, including an appearance at the Glee Club on Sunday 2nd November. With the Byrds, McGuinn helped define an era as songs such as Eight Miles High and Mr Tambourine Man became classics of the new folk rock sound.
McGuinn’s trademark Rickenbacker 12 string sound has influenced generations of musicians and this show will draw from his huge back catalogue, including his Grammy-nominated project, Treasures from the Folk Den and his critically acclaimed 4 CD box set, The Folk Den Project. As Rolling Stone magazine put it when placing the band at number 45 in their 2004 list of greatest artists of all time, “Music would be a very, very different place if it hadn’t been for Roger McGuinn” while the likes of REM and the Eagles have cited the band as influences.
Tickets for the Glee Club gig are priced £28.50, and are available now from www.glee.co.uk and on 0871 472 0400.
