Another Michelin star for the city’s restaurants.

An award-winning restaurateur – who moved to Birmingham six months ago to join its thriving culinary community – has claimed a fourth Michelin star for the city, ensuring it maintains its reign as home to more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other English city outside of the capital.

Adam Stokes, of Adam’s Restaurant, who previously earned a Michelin Star and 4AA Rosettes in 2011 whilst in Scotland, joins the ranks of the city’s Michelin starred chefs Glynn Purnell of Purnell’s Restaurant, Richard Turner of Turner’s Restaurant and Luke Tipping at Simpsons.

Adam, who runs the restaurant with wife Natasha, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded the much coveted Michelin star so soon after opening our doors. The whole Adam’s team work extremely hard to deliver the best fine dining experience and without them we could not have hit the ground running. We strive each and every day to take the guest on a culinary journey, to entice and excite. From the very beginning the city’s people have embraced us and we already consider Birmingham our home. There is a real appetite for good cooking and we look forward to working with other chefs developing the city’s profile further.”

Located in the heart of Birmingham city centre Adam Stokes opened his first restaurant in spring of this year bolstering the city’s reputation as a world-class dining destination. The eponymously named fine dining restaurant – a 25-seat venue located between Snow Hill and New Street railway stations on Bennett’s Hill – serves an innovative menu of modern British food.

Adam is the latest culinary star to join the city’s growing list of coveted chefs flying the flag for Birmingham on the international stage. Adam’s will run in this location with a move to a larger property in the city centre planned for the future. Emma Gray, Director of Marketing Services for Visit Birmingham, which is responsible for attracting visitors and which has run a number of marketing campaigns to boost the city’s culinary profile – including its recent ‘Birmingyum’ campaign – said: “It is a tremendous accolade for Adam’s Restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star and is fantastic news for the city – cementing our reputation as an international leader in cuisine.

Open for five days a week, the restaurant serves two tasting menus of varying length showcasing Adam’s style. The ‘Tasting 5’ and for the full culinary experience the ‘Tasting 9’ course menu priced at £45 and £75 respectively. Menus are complemented by creative wine pairings and a focused wine list. A light lunch menu of one, two or three courses is available alongside the tasting menus to whet the appetites of lunchtime diners. The couple aim to create a relaxed fine dining service with friendly knowledgeable staff.
