The Birmingham Press

This week at the Robin

Here’s a run-down of what’s happening at the venue.

One of the top British songwriters of the past thirty years is at the Robin on Monday. Martin Stephenson first came to prominence in the early eighties with the Daintees, although the acclaim the band received was more critical than commercial. After embarking on a solo career Martin travelled a less traditional path than most, including recording in Lincoln Cathedral, travelling around North Carolina and moving to his current home in the Scottish highlands. Martin tours regularly, both on his own and since 2010 with the reformed Daintees, with whom he recorded the album California Start last year.

On Thursday there’s Yes tribute Fragile, featuring Claire Hamill, who in her career as a well-respected folk singer has played with several members of Yes as well as many other top names.
