University to host fun day

The University of Wolverhampton is to host a family fun day as part of its 21st birthday celebrations.

The event, to be held at the University’s Walsall Campus, will take place on Saturday 18 May and everyone is invited.

Activities on the day will include a circus workshop, science event ‘Dr Musgrove’s Marquee of Marvels & Mayhem’, sports taster sessions and the chance to meet Stanley the Seal. There will also be a screening of a family-friendly film in the morning.

“Bayard’s Colts”, Walsall’s very own street theatre company, will also be showcasing their talents at the event, performing their newest show ‘The Landlady and the Dragon’ at 12pm and 3pm.

Children and parents can also enjoy a tour of the University’s Performance Hub, taking in its recording studios, rehearsal rooms & mixing desks as well as having a go themselves in one of the workshops included.

The Family Fun Day is to be held as part of the University’s ’21 and Proud’ celebrations, marking 21 years since the institution received University status.

Speaking about the event, the University’s Registrar, Helen Lloyd Wildman, said: “The Family Fun Day at Walsall promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family.

“The opportunity will be there for attendees to grab a bite to eat at the free barbecue or to treat themselves to an ice lolly or cone from the free ice-cream van, and of course there will many other fun events for everyone to enjoy.

“We are looking forward to hosting this fantastic event, which forms part of our ’21 and Proud’ celebrations. We would strongly encourage everyone to come along and join us for what promises to be a real treat for all the family!”
