Mr Benn steps into incredible adventures featuring dragons, princesses and sea monsters

On Sun 17 Feb, Tall Stories (creators of the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom stage shows) present Mr Benn, a live action show full of catchy songs and astounding magic which will appeal to old friends of the classic children’s character and new adventurers alike. After discovering an extraordinary fancy dress shop, Mr Benn steps into incredible adventures featuring dragons, princesses and sea monsters – but will he ever go back to his ordinary life?

Pied Piper bring a story about growing up to mac birmingham with My Big Little Sister on Fri 22 & Sat 23 Feb. Tom’s little sister Ruby thinks being a grown-up and all the freedom that comes with it sounds like fun. But when her wish comes true and she wakes up as a grown-up herself, Mum decides to take a well-earned break, leaving Ruby in charge. Suddenly the responsibilities of juggling a job and looking after Tom and Nan don’t seem like so much fun after all.

There are plenty of chances for children to get creative with a wide range of fun activities. Art Play (Wed 20 – Fri 22) for under 5s gives young children the chance to get hands on with different techniques, and mac Explorers for ages 6-11 (Mon 18 – Fri 21 Feb) focuses on an individual art form each day including painting, drawing, animation, drama and sculpture. Family sessions with textiles (Tue 19 Feb) and pottery (Wed 20 Feb) allow parents and children aged 6-11 to explore and create art together.

Sessions for young people aged 12-17 include a 72 hour film challenge (Mon 18 – Wed 20 Feb) where participants will write, film and edit a short film in just three days before seeing the final cuts shown in mac birmingham’s cinema, as well as digital music production and animation one-day courses on Thu 21 and Fri 22 Feb.

Tickets for both shows and all activities can be purchased through www.macarts.co.uk, or by calling Sales & Information on 0121 446 3232.
