This Week at the Robin

Here’s what’s happening in Bilston.

Tonight there’s a prog special with K2, one of the most under-rated bands of the genre and regarded as the nearest thing to classic Genesis the 21st century has yet produced. Tickets £12.50

Tuesday sees the first heat in this month’s section of the Robin/M2 Studios live band of the year competition. Featured are three rockers – Supanaut from Wolverhampton, Darlaston’s Suture and Dudley band Head Trap.  Admission £3

Joseph Whelan & his band perform on Wednesday, in his first live show since an appearance on X Factor. Tickets £10

Thursday promises a slice of history when The Former Members bring the spirit of Monterey to the Robin. As the name implies they’re veterans of some legendary bands, in this case Country Joe & the Fish, Al Kooper’s Blues Project and the Steve Miller Band. Tickets £12.50

On Friday Glory Days is a tribute to Bruce Springsteen. Tickets £9

Saturday sees the premier eighties tribute Kick Up the 80s performing. Tickets £8

On Sunday there’s a first time at the Robin for Celtic prog-folk band Iona. Last year’s double album Another Realm brought further praise for a band who over the years have proved as adept in the studio as they have live. Tickets £15
