This Week at the Robin

Some legendary names and some who might be one day.

Tonight sees the arrival at the Robin of a bona-fide legend in the shape of Booker T, of & the MGs fame. Co-writer and performer of some of the greatest soul songs ever penned and the man behind the best-loved Hammond sound of all, a memorable night is assured. Tickets £18.50

On Tuesday there’s the first monthly final of the Robin/M2 Studios band of the year competition. Tickets £4

Steve Ajao

One of the great unsung local heroes performs on Wednesday. Steve Ajao is a phenomenally talented guitarist who also plays sax, and has never received the commercial accolades his abilities deserve. Tickets £9

On Thursday there’s the female-fronted Queen tribute She Will Rock You. Tickets £8

A rare opportunity to see one of the most innovative British bands of the past forty years comes on Friday, when 10cc play a rare club gig. Three number ones and 11 top tens show the band’s commercial success; their artistic credibility is enhanced by a list of admirers including Axl Rose, Chrisse Hynde and Sophie Ellis Bextor. Tickets £24.50

Eagles tribute Desperado are on stage on Saturday. Tickets £12.50

A familiar name will be at the Robin on Sunday. Mostly Autumn recorded their first album twelve years ago. Since then their blend of prog folk rock has seen them gain a loyal following and work with Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull amongst others as well as gain a host of awards. Their latest recording, the Ghost Moon Orchestra, was released last month. Tickets £14
