Laughing Sole Comedy Club

The Public’s monthly comedy club, The Laughing Sole, returns on Wednesday 8 August headlined by the amiable John Ryan and one of Britain’s finest deaf comics, Steve Day.

The regular comedy club, which continues to attract audiences from across the region with its unique brand of clean and inoffensive comedy, is committed to proving that clean humour can be entertaining without losing an edge.

John Ryan

Down to earth John Ryan uses his sharp wit and seemingly encyclopaedic knowledge of the world around him to keep any audience on their toes.  His high energy and warm personality has also helped rocket his health shows into the limelight with Beyond Prison winning Best Short Documentary at the Scottish Mental Health and Arts Film Festival 2011.

Steve Day

Sutton Coldfield’s Steve Day is a unique comedian – warm, witty and engaging whilst dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world. Steve went on his first national tour back in 2006, and has since been performing across the world to critical acclaim.  A familiar voice on Radio 4, Steve has appeared many times on You and Yours, was a token man on Woman’s Hour, has appeared in two radio dramas, All Fingers and Thumbs with Bill Nighy, and Sound Barriers with Patricia Routledge and Caroline Quentin.

August’s Laughing Sole will be headlined by West Bromwich’s Karen Bayley, the first ever female winner of the prestigious Comedy Store King Gong award.  Her material surprises with inspired and sparkling punchlines, with comic timing that is rarely less than brilliant.

Support comes from Chris Hall.

The Laughing Sole featuring John Ryan and Steve Day takes place on Wednesday 8 August at 8pm.  Tickets are £8.50 in advance, £9.50 on the door and are available from www.thepublic.com or by calling 0121 533 7161. Suitable for ages 16+.
