Contracts signed for Selly Oak homes development

Contracts have been signed on an exciting new development of high quality, contemporary canal side homes in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

Project partners sign the contracts for Elliott Road, Selly Oak. The scheme, on Elliott Road, will be built by Loughborough-based contractor and developer, William Davis Ltd on behalf of housing and care provider, Midland Heart.

Situated on a strategic site close to the train station and University of Birmingham, Elliott Road will comprise a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses and two bedroom apartments for shared ownership and affordable rent. The properties will benefit from a canal side frontage to the Worcester and Birmingham canal and will help revitalise a former industrial area within the district.

Guy Higgins, managing director, William Davis said: “This contract signing not only marks the start of a major redevelopment project but also another milestone in our long-term working relationship with Midland Heart. Together we have a strong track record in the provision of award-winning affordable homes and are committed to continuing this success in Selly Oak.”

Ruth Cooke, chief executive officer, Midland Heart added: “This fantastic scheme is another step towards achieving our vision of raising the standards of affordable housing which is available to people living in the East and West Midlands.”

Elliott Road is scheduled to be completed in July 2013 and is being developed in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency and Birmingham City Council.

The William Davis contract value is put at £6m.
