Fierce Festival, Birmingham’s premier festival of live art, performance and public intervention returns in March 2012. For ten days (and over two weekends), artists from across the globe will bring boundary-pushing performances and art installations to Birmingham.

Festival highlights include:
- Dachshund U.N. Australian artist Bennett Miller recreates his playful, satirical and often chaotic ‘Dachshund U.N.’ project in Birmingham. A scaled model of the United Nations assembly will be populated with 47 dachshunds from across the West Midlands, positioned in a central Birmingham location. - Fierce provide the ultimate alternative Easter celebrations with Daniel Lismore’s Shabba Dabba Dah Birmingham Easter weekend special. Channelling the spirit of Leigh Bowery, Lismore changes his visual identity daily, continually re-inventing and documenting his ever-changing look. He brings his opulent and outrageous London-based club night to Birmingham for a very special edition. http://daniellismore.tumblr.com/
- Mette Edvardsen, Time Has Fallen Asleep in the Afternoon Sunshine – co-produced with Birmingham REP and performed in Birmingham Central Library. Celebrating the soon to be defunct brutalist building and the literature within it, the project (inspired by Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451) will see entire books from the library memorised and recited to visitors. www.metteedvardsen.be
- Graeme Miller, Track (in association with IKON Gallery) Graeme Miller presents a moveable participatory installation where the viewer is pulled along a track. Face-up and camera-style, the viewer goes on a slow journey along a length of dolly track and invited to gaze upwards. - Mehmet Sander – The German born, Turkey-based extreme choreographer will run an intensive workshop over the festival to create a new group performance, with maximum collision and velocity. http://www.youtube.com / http://bit.ly/MehmetSanderBio
- Playgroup, Berlin Love Tour (co-produced with Birmingham REP) Join Cork-based company Playgroup on a guided tour of Berlin transposed to the streets of Birmingham. Inspired by a tale of love, heartbreak and it’s lasting memory in the German capital. http://playgrouptheatre.tumblr.com
- Ron Athey, Gifts of the Spirit: Automatic Writing
Fierce veteran Ron Athey returns to the festival to work for the first time with an ensemble in an expansive group performance focused on automatic writing.
