French-style street food van launches

Chef Andrew Sheridan announces Artisan St Kitchen in Birmingham.

Acclaimed chef Andrew Sheridan has announced the lauch of his new innovative French-style street food van, Artisan Street Kitchen.

Andrew, who recently opened his debut restaurant 8, will be re-inventing traditional French-style bistro dishes and serving his culinary creations on wheels, across the whole of Birmingham from 28th January.

Created for gourmands on the go, the van a la carte features French onion soup and ham and cheese croquettes to start, mains of croque monsieur, madame or florentine, followed by French toast with banana and caramel sauce, and chocolate choux buns. There is also ‘a little extra’ option which includes deep fried dauphinoise and bourguignons.

With locations across Birmingham and the surrounding areas at times due to be announced imminently (including central Birmingham, Blackwell, Barston and Bromsgrove), Artisan Street Kitchen is encouraging everyone to ‘ASK’ for the locations they would like them to park up at.

All orders are to be made in advance online via the website, where guests will be required to select the location of the pick-up, the collection date and designed time slot in advance to ensure a controlled and safe collection.

Andrew will also be joined by a host of talented chef friends for a series of collaboration evenings in February and March – on wheels. The familiar faces confirmed to serve up their version of street food so far includes Michelin starred Gareth Ward of Ynshir (27th February), Aktar Islam of Opheem (6th March), Tom Shepherd, founder of Tom Shepherd Dine at Home (13th March), Paul Foster from Salt (20 March) and Glynn Purnell of Purnell’s (27th March). Menus to be announced soon.

All guest chef nights start at 5pm and finish at 9pm and are hosted from the Artisan Street Kitchen van in Birmingham City Centre. Menus come as a fixed price voucher for three street food dishes created by Andrew and his collaborator.

With the aim to take this French-style street food concept to a nationwide level, Artisan Street Kitchen has announced a permanent residence at the Solihull Taste Collective, based in the heart of Mell Square in Solihull.
