Hunt on for best local food outlets

Calling all Midlanders to support their local Farm Shop or Deli by voting for them as the Midlands best.

The search is now on for the best Deli or Farm Shop in the Midlands 2016. The BBC Good Food Shows are once again teaming up with the Food Editor at large at BBC Good Food, Barney Desmazery, to scour the region for the Midlands’ hidden gems and calling on locals to nominate their favourites. Delis can again be voted for on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and the deli with the most votes will be automatically shortlisted and visited by the judges. The winner will receive a stand at the BBC Good Food Show Winter at the NEC from 24th–27th November.

New for this year, the winner will also be given the chance to host one session per day in the Show’s brand new Tasting Theatre – a brilliant opportunity to further expose the farm shop or deli in front of a dedicated food audience and receive revenue made on Tasting Theatre ticket sales.

Barney Desmazery, Food Editor at large, BBC Good Food and judge for Midlands Best Deli 2016 says, “I’m really pleased to form part of this year’s judging panel once again. This is the fifth year we have run this competition and it’s a fantastic opportunity for Midlands’ farm shops and delis to promote themselves to thousands of food fans from the region and ultimately win at stand at the BBC Good Food Show. I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s entries!”

Judges will be looking for the following:

• Range of international and local produce
• Quality of produce
• Knowledge of providence of produce
• Customer service

To nominate a local deli, visit www.bbcgoodfoodshowwinter.com/Midlandsbestdeli or nominate on social media by using #GFSMBD and mentioning @BBCGoodFoodShow – the deli with the highest number of votes will automatically be shortlisted.

Deadline for applications is 23rd September and the winner will be announced on 24th October.
