Birmingham pubs donate to food banks

Christmas cheer for people in need.

Boxes full of food were delivered to food banks in Erdington and Sparkshill on Thursday 18th December, after eight Hungry Horse pubs in Birmingham teamed up for a festive appeal.

In November drop off points were set up at the Baldwin, Beeches, Billesley, Cambridge, Crane, Hare and Hounds, Hunters Moon and Wylde Green and customers were encouraged to donate food to help people in the local community less fortunate this festive period.

Posters were displayed in the pubs with a shopping list of suitable items and the pubs received boxes full of donations from generous customers.

On Thursday half of the pubs’ managers visited the food bank at Sparkhill and the other half visited Six Ways Baptist Church in Erdington, where they donated the food that had been collected.

Marc McGuigan, business unit director for Hungry Horse, said: “At Hungry Horse we pride ourselves in being family friendly and part of the local community. I would like to thank all of our customers in Birmingham for their generous donations and I hope that the contribution we have made will make a difference to those in need this Christmas and into the new year.”
