Theatre support centre opens in Digbeth.

The home of RoguePlay Theatre in Digbeth, Birmingham is now open as the West Midlands Creation Centre, supporting the work of Circus and Physical Theatre artists coming in and out of the region. It is the only centre of its kind in the West Midlands and will offer:

Affordable rehearsal space for Circus, Physical Theatre, Dance & creative companies
Aerial equipment and aerial rigging, including an affordable aerial rig for hire
Business support and mentorship for small companies and emerging artists
A fully inclusive class timetable run by professional artists, for beginners to advanced, and inclusive for those with physical disabilities and hearing impairments (BSL trained tutors)
Masterclasses and visiting tutors
One-to-one private classes for skills and choreography
Artistic residencies, creation weeks and showcase opportunities
A well-equipped treatment room and professional remedial massage therapist for treating injuries
Opportunities to get involved with the Company and find out about opportunities in the West Midlands

Kim Charnock, Artistic Director of RoguePlay Theatre, says “As artists working in Physical and Circus Theatre we know how hard it can be to find the space to develop new work. We’re excited to welcome artists into the space from the West Midlands and beyond to provide them with inclusive and accessible facilities, support and training. We are also working to make international connections with similar centres abroad to raise the profile of the West Midlands as a centre for Circus Arts and Physical Theatre.”
