Birmingham pubs Christmas food bank pledge

Food collections set up at pubs.

Hungry Horse pubs in the Birmingham area are teaming up to help those less fortunate this festive period by setting up collection points for food that will be donated to local food banks.

The Baldwin, Beeches, Billesley, Cambridge, Crane, Hare and Hounds, Hunters Moon and Wylde Green have all set up drop off points so that customers can donate food at the pubs. A shopping list of suitable items to donate, including cereal and pasta sauces, can be found at the food bank websites and will be displayed on posters in the pubs.

The appeal is being launched today, Friday 28th November, and will run until the week before Christmas when the pubs managers, with help from the Hungry Horse mascot Super Horse will bring together all the food that has been donated and deliver it to Birmingham food banks including one at Erdington.

Matt Brown, business unit director for Hungry Horse, said: “All of the Hungry Horse pubs in Birmingham are family-friendly and this Christmas we will be filled with people having their Christmas dinners with us. However, there are people in the local communities who will be struggling, especially at this time of year, and we wanted to do something to support them.

“Our customers have always been very supportive and generous when it comes to charity events at the pubs and I am sure it will be no different for our food bank appeal.”

Food can be donated during opening hours at any of the Hungry Horse pubs listed.
