Seagal plays the blues

Acting legend to perform at local venue.

Further evidence that Bilston’s Robin 2 enjoys a worldwide reputation has come with news that all-action Hollywood superstar Steven Seagal will be bringing his blues band to the venue for two shows in July.

Apart from his acting Steven supports many charities, is friends with many world leaders including Vladimir Putin and is also famous for being a real live deputy in the ‘Joe’ Arpaio (six-time elected sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona) “posse” helping protect the United States borders.

However what is sometime forgotten is that Steven has been an accomplished musician for many years playing the blues since the age of twelve. Steven has honed his craft over the years, jamming with legends such as BB King, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker and his greatest influence, Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown. His first album, Songs from the Crystal Cave, was a top seller in European markets and featured a combination of styles with a classic harmonica solo by Stevie Wonder. However, the 2007 follow-up Mojo Priest saw Steven showing his roots with an album of blues material that was critically acclaimed as one of the best of the year.

Robin 2 spokesman Mike Hamblett said “We hosted 3 sensational sold out shows with Steven Seagal back in 2008 and it’s obviously fantastic news that he’s requested to come back to the Robin 2 for two nights with his new all-star blues band as part of a UK tour”

Steven’s band will feature many great blues names including Big Bill Morganfield, son of the legendary Muddy Waters. The shows take place on 20th & 21st July. Tickets, priced at £27.50, are available from the Robin box office on 01902-401211 or by visiting www.therobin.co.uk
