Mother pays tribute to dead son

Witnesses still sought to fatal incident.

The mother of a Black Country man killed when he was struck by a lorry on Thorns Road in Quarry Bank last month has issued a tribute to her son.

The death of Sartaj Aziz, aged 26 and from Brierley Hill, is being treated as manslaughter. Garret Fitzpatrick, 27, also from Brierley Hill, has been remanded in custody in connection with the death which happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday 20th August.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, said: “I would like to thank everybody for their beautiful flowers, cards, thoughts and prayers at this tragic time. Sartaj was 26-years-old. He was highly thought of and well respected, by not only his friends and family, but the larger community in the Lye area. I was very proud of my son and he will be missed forever and a day.”

Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to officers to call them on 101.
