St. Modwen has submitted a planning application for a new phase of housing in Longbridge, Birmingham.

If approved, the new residential development will be delivered and managed by St. Modwen’s residential arm St. Modwen Homes and will comprise 82 homes when complete; made up of one and two bedroom apartments alongside two, three and four bedroom houses.

The proposed properties will be built on Lickey Road on the former MG Rover works, opposite existing housing and just north of Cofton Park. To the south of the site is the new Longbridge town centre, which is due to be launched to the public this autumn. The application also outlines plans for new vehicular access points, parking and landscaping.

The application was submitted by St. Modwen following on from St. Modwen Homes’ existing phase of housing, Park View, where all but one of the 113 properties in the first phase have now been sold. Construction is currently underway on the 19 houses which make up the second phase of the development.

Park View has continually experienced strong sales having now sold all bar one of the homes in its first phase and 30 per cent of properties in its second phase of housing which was only launched to the public last month.

The homes at Park View are part of St. Modwen’s £1 billion regeneration of Longbridge, one of the largest regeneration schemes currently being undertaken in the Midlands and which when complete, is set to provide a total of 2,000 new homes to the area. The opening of the £70m first phase of the town centre later this year will bring St. Modwen’s investment to date to £250 million.
