At Trentham announce first big names

Ocean Colour Scene to headline on Friday 30th May 2025.

Trentham have announced that Ocean Colour Scene will headline the Friday night of a brand-new concert series, At Trentham, on Friday 30th May 2025. The event forms part of a three-night concert series, as part of the Stoke 100 celebrations in 2025. Ocean Colour Scene will be joined by The Enemy as a special support act.

Ocean Colour Scene’s rip-roaring live shows are legendary, offering communal outpourings of hope and joy, with some of the most life-affirming singalongs you’ll ever hear. Having spent six years honing their sound, the band exploded onto the Britpop scene, delivering three Top 5 albums: Moseley Shoals (1996), Marchin’ Already (1997), and One From The Modern (1999).

Their chart-topping hits include 17 Top 40 singles, such as the iconic The Riverboat Song. Ocean Colour Scene remains one of the most beloved bands of their era, known for their high-energy performances and a career-defining ability to bring audiences together.

Adding to the excitement, The Enemy will bring their distinctive blend of Britpop swagger and punk energy to the stage. Hailing from Coventry, this trio—lead singer and guitarist Tom Clarke, bassist Andy Hopkins, and drummer Liam Watts—rose to fame in 2007 with their debut album, We’ll Live and Die in These Towns.

Their sound, often likened to the passion of The Jam and the bravado of Oasis, propelled them to major success, including a sold-out reunion tour in 2022 after a hiatus. Now back in the studio working on their fifth album, The Enemy continues to captivate fans old and new, making them a perfect addition to this unforgettable night.

Alastair Budd, Senior Director at Trentham, shared his excitement: “We’re delighted to kick off the ‘At Trentham’ concert series with such an incredible lineup. Ocean Colour Scene and The Enemy are legendary acts that will undoubtedly set the tone for an unforgettable weekend of live music.

“It’s a privilege to host this event as part of Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary celebrations, and we can’t wait to welcome fans from across the region to join us in marking this historic milestone.”

The event is part of the Stoke 100 celebrations, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Stoke-on-Trent being granted city status by King George V in 1925. The year-long programme highlights the city’s rich heritage and bright future, uniting communities, businesses, and the voluntary sector in celebration.

A Council spokesperson commented: “These events will be a fantastic addition to our Centenary calendar. Trentham is a hugely popular local visitor attraction and events venue, so it’s great to have them onboard for our Centenary. Music is an important part of our cultural heritage—most of us will remember the first band we saw live. This series of concerts will form part of a year-long programme of events. Keep checking sot100.org.uk for the latest event announcements.”

The Friday night concert marks the second night of a spectacular three-day music series, running from Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st May 2025, with more world-class performances and entertainment to be announced soon.
