Blues at the Trot

Andy Munro watches Blues beat Bolton Wanderers.

Apart from a couple of self-inflicted second half scares, this was a Blues cruise.

Against a team that had one of the better possession stats, Blues still had 70 per cent of e ball. However, they did get caught out a couple of times after the break but thankfully Bolton missed their one easy chance and the increasingly impressive Ryan Allsop pulled off a wonderful save for the other.

For once, Blues started well and this early play was capped off by a superb volleyed goal from the increasingly impressive Tomoki Iwata. Alongside him Paik Seung-ho oozed class from the first minute to the last.

Behind them Christoph Klarer was dominant and Ben Davies fitted in seamlessly alongside.
Particularly impressive was the returning Etahn Laird who, as usual, got forward at any opportunity and could even have scored with a brilliant header saved but was generally also very diligent in his defensive duties.

Further forward, Keshi Anderson was quietly impressive and not only won the penalty but was a constant thorn in the opposition’s side. Alfie May should have been on the scoresheet but was unusually over-elaborate when put through and let’s hope that his wastefulness doesn’t affect his overall confidence.

That man Jay Stansfield was brought on for a comparatively cameo performance, topped by smashing home a penalty right down the middle. Hunting an in-form Stags is next!
