A lunchtime treat enjoyed by Helen Annetts with fellow testers Charlie and Joe Statham.
On a grey Monday, on day I don’t even know what of the six week holidays, we headed for a lunchtime treat at Heavenly Desserts in Moseley. And several delicious treats later our holiday spirits were fully revived and the squabbling stopped – a heavenly six week holiday miracle.
Founded in 2008 by Mohammad Imran and Yousif Aslam, Heavenly Desserts is an international restaurant franchise delivering the very finest in artisan and luxury desserts. The space feels like a fancy restaurant – all pinks, greens, flowers and great lighting – but at the same time feels completely welcoming, in part due to the great staff in Moseley, whose names I asked but don’t want to misspell, but they made us feel really at home and looked after. Offering us lots of useful info about that particular branch – which has been open three years – and the Heavenly Desserts franchise overall.
Despite a foray into the new summer drinks for one of us – the delicious hibiscus and honey iced tea, so fresh my fellow reviewer needed two – we were delighted to get a selection of dessert treats. As a side note if savoury treats are your thing, Heavenly Desserts are now offering a savoury brunch menu at their Sutton Coldfield branch which is not that far away….
The youngest in our party kept it simple with a Belgian Milk Chocolate milkshake – which was huge and he said delicious although it did beat him – accompanied by Double Milk Chocolate Cookie Dough which he said was the best he’s had. He also made an excellent suggestion that we all share one portion of the dessert tapas so we started with Hot Mini Doughnuts, a portion is three mini doughnuts of course accompanied by milk chocolate dipping sauce – what a starter.
The eldest alongside his hibiscus and honey iced tea enjoyed the Royale American Waffle, hazelnut chocolate sauce, caramelised hazelnuts, hazelnut chocolate truffles and cocoa hazelnut gelato. He reported it to be “incredibly tasty” – high praise from an older teen – and very filling, although he powered through and cleaned the plate.
Never quite able to choose I was immediately taken by the aptly named I’ll Have What she’s Having American Waffle. And if I had have seen it come out for someone else I would have wanted it. Fresh strawberries (to give the semblance of health eating), milk chocolate and stracciatella gelato. It was lovely. Such a treat, and of course I finished every morsel accompanied for me by an iced latte.
Heavenly Desserts is a great spot to treat the kids – fancy and friendly – and of course with an array of desserts the likes of which would never be served at home. But also it felt like somewhere you might meet your friends for a catch up – daytime or evening – maybe to share some of the dessert tapas so you could sample a little bit of everything!
