Blues win at Stoke and impress Andy Munro.
Wayne Rooney is already becoming a distant memory now that Blues have a proper manager in Tony Mowbray, who has served his time and has a proven track record.
Talking of new managers, Stoke were unbeaten under Steven Schumacher, which made this win even more impressive although we had to weather some intense pressure in the closing stages with Neil Ruddy showing there is life in the old dog yet. In terms of the team selected, the major surprise was the appearance of Krystian Bielik at centre-half to partner Dion Sanderson plus the non-appearance of a (supposedly) reborn Scott Hogan.
Blues were impressive in the first half and this was topped off by a great goal by Jay Stansfield, put through by Koji Miyoshi who tellingly hardly got a look in under Rooney. Siriki Dembele was as always, a thorn in the opposition’s side whilst Juninho Bacuna extended the Blues’ lead with a sublime free kick. Newbie Andre Dozzell, vilfied by QPR fans, showed impressive commitment in a cameo performance helping to keep the Potters at bay
Let”s hope the good times are back!
