Birmingham Bach Choir host Open Rehearsal.
Birmingham Bach Choir is on the look out for new members.
The renowned choir, one of the oldest and most respected musical groups in the region, currently has vacancies for tenors and basses, as well as altos and sopranos.
All singers are welcome, including those who may not have sung with a choir before, or for some time. Would-be members should be able to sight-read music.
Those interested are invited to attend an Open Rehearsal on Wednesday 6th or Wednesday 13th September, from 7.15pm-9.30pm, in Cotteridge, Birmingham.
Founded in 1919, Birmingham Bach Choir consists of around 70 members from all walks of life, and from across the West Midlands. A large Chamber Choir, it has an impressive repertoire that spans JS Bach, Britten, Rachmaninoff and Rutter, as well as newly commissioned pieces. The choir is led by composer/conductor Paul Spicer – one of the UK’s leading choral directors.
The forthcoming 2023-2024 concert season will see the choir perform works by Liszt and Scarlatti, alongside festive favourites, and includes an Easter performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion, at Lichfield Cathedral. In addition to singing, the choir also has an active social life.
Chair Philip Bellshaw says: “It’s a fantastic experience singing with Birmingham Bach Choir. The repertoire is forever changing, introducing us to wonderful music, and Paul Spicer is such an inspiration.”
