Curtain rises at Shakespeare’s Birthplace

Live actors enter the stage for the summer.

This summer, visitors to Stratford-Upon-Avon, are set to experience Shakespeare in the place he once called home, as live actors perform in the garden of Shakespeare’s Birthplace famous scenes from 18 of his most iconic plays. Plays, that without the First Folio would have been lost to history.

From 26th July to 3rd September, the talented team from Events in History will be in the garden of Shakespeare’s Birthplace daily, providing visitors with a unique experience of some of Shakespeare’s most iconic and lesser-known plays, bringing them to life for all to enjoy.

All the World’s a Stage forms part of a special programme of events and activities taking place across Shakespeare’s family homes in Stratford-upon-Avon throughout the summer as visitors are welcomed back to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the First Folio.

“This year is an important year for us as we celebrate 400 years of the First Folio, which is why we can’t wait for our visitors to immerse themselves in these performances, reconnecting and enjoying Shakespeare’s work and importantly learning more about Shakespeare’s lost plays,” commented Rachael North, director of visitor experience at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

Visitors can expect to witness captivating performances of some of the most popular Shakespeare scenes, from The Tempest to Macbeth, As You Like It to The Taming of the Shrew as well as some of the more unknown plays, including King John, Timon of Athens and many more.

“As we gear up for a summer of fun across all our properties, we’re excited to be collaborating with Events in History, welcoming actors to the Birthplace as they bring Shakespeare’s previously lost plays back to life in a fun and fresh way for people of all ages to enjoy,” added Rachael, whose team operate all three of Shakespeare’s family homes in Stratford.

All the World’s a Stage runs from 26rd July to 3rd September and is included in admission to Shakespeare’s Birthplace. Tickets are priced at £18 for adults, and £9 for children, with under 3s going free. Performances will take place every 20 minutes.
