Bhangra Symphonica at Ragley Hall

The first bhangra rock and classical concert in the UK.

On 9th August, Bhangra Symphonica will perform a spectacular evening of music and dance as East meets West and Bhangra meets Classical – never seen before in the UK. The thrilling musical adventure will take place against the stunning backdrop of Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.

Bhangra Rock band, Kissmet and one of the UK’s top chamber orchestras, Orchestra of the Swan, join forces to present a breath-taking fusion of music and dance, story-telling and mesmerising spirituality; from the irresistible energy of Bhangra beats and Western Rock, to the meditative calm of devotional songs, all underpinned by an exquisite soundscape of classical strings – Bhangra Symphonica.

The fusion of the two musical genres is the brainchild of Ron Singh, Kissmet and David Le Page, Orchestra of the Swan, who said, “The creation of Bhangra Symphonica, blending two totally different musical genres, is such an exhilarating experience which will challenge and excite us as artists and performers. We are so proud of our collaboration and believe it will be a mind-blowing concert. The melange of Bhangra and Classical music not only works incredibly in harmony together, but we feel it is representative of modern multicultural life. As with music and life in general, anything and everything is enhanced once you broaden your horizons and embrace alternative influences.”

Kissmet have performed all over the world, sharing stages with Kaiser Chiefs, Duffy, Nitin Sawhney, and Asian Dub Foundation, among many others. Founded by Ron and Buzz Singh, Kissmet’s unique sound reflects the brothers’ experience of growing up in multicultural Britain, listening to everything from classical Hindi and Punjabi music, to The Clash and Led Zeppelin.

Orchestra of the Swan love crossing genres and mixing styles, from Bach to Bowie and Rameau to Radiohead. The Swan constantly strives to be accessible, inviting, surprising, and challenging, blurring the boundaries between genres; working and performing with exciting artists, and as Ron Singh says: ‘What’s most important is the incredible vibe and energy that can be generated by people of all faiths, backgrounds, colours, gender and culture coming together to create something powerfully positive, infectious and memorable.’

Tickets can be purchased at Bhangra Symphonica. The event is produced by hambletts.com.
