Blues go down to Nottingham Forest and Andy Munro comments.
As surely as Blues always beat Bristol City, so Blues always lose to Notingham Forest and so it proved. Losing Lyle Taylor for obvious reasons and Tabitha Chong through injury shouldn’t have been a game changer but Blues ended up well beaten despite some decent passages of play.
It probably doesn’t matter as we only need one win from the last five games but it still shows ominously how far we have to go. Bluenoses won’t be happy that an on-loan Villa player gave Forest an early lead but Kienan Davis proved a handful all game. We struggled in midfield despite a decent performance from a battling Ivan Sunjic and the attack was non-existent, lacking a focal point.
Bringing on both troy Deeney and the Juke in the closing stages smacked of desperation, not helped by a bad injury to the increasingly unlucky Neal Etheridge.
Lee Bowyer may think his job is under threat and therefore play his ‘strongest’ side even when we are mathematically safe. Hopefully, instead , he will take a punt on a few youngsters and a final plea- play the talented Onel Hernandez as a ‘normal’ winger!
