Andy Munro sees Blues draw at Stoke.
Blues seem to be gradually getting a steam up after an horrific spell. Typically, this is being achieved with honest effort at the back and some stardust up top.
Before the match most of us would have taken a point, away to a decently in-form Stoke side. All the more so with a decimated defence featuring a comparatively diminutive central defender in Colin and a Pedersen who, even in his preferred full-back position, loses his man with worrying regularity. Either side are two wingers playing at being fullbacks with Jordan James, Gary Gardner, Ryan Woods and Juninho Bacuna in front of them with none particuarly known for their defensive tenacity.
Despite this the team did their fans proud with JJ’s opening goal calmly slotted home and Gary Gardner’s deserved equaliser, epitomising his captain’s role and his rediscovery of his box to box strengths.
Up front, Taylor led the line superbly and Hernandez was his usual box of tricks showing a clean pair of Cuban heels to the opposition defence on more than a few occasions. Of course, we would need a flock of swallows to make this season a footballing summer but at least we are now entertaining our fans thanks to recent signings. Undoubtedly Messrs Taylor, Hernandez and Bacuna have brought much creatively to the footballing party, enhancing youngsters like James who earned every bit of the pocket money that he probably picks up. Three points from the next two games won’t be easy but has to be our target.
