Andy Munro watches and winces as Blues go down to Fulham.
As most of us feared,o Blues got the forecast spanking at Craven Cottage and whilst this won’t define our season, it makes the next three games against fellow strugglers games that will certainly be important.
Most of us have been loyal supporters of Lee Bowyer, who is trying to manage under difficult circumstances but there can be no hiding place for him in his task to restore confidence and structure against teams who have not spent anything more than we have on their team.
Playing Bela as a wingback against the league leaders was nothing short of folly whilst Colin was also run ragged.
In the middle Gardner seems to have lost his mojo whilst that’s all Sunjic has going for him despite a superb strike. Although, on the latter player you can’t blame Bowyer for spending £6 million on a poor man’s Kleftenbeld. Woods was the pick in midfield although, if you’ll excuse the pun, even he didn’t pull up any trees.
The Juke battled hard to no avail and with minimal service whilst Hernandez, at least, showed glimpses of pace and class. The only other bright spot was Mengi who must feel like that little Dutch boy with the dyke at the back.
I hope but doubt that Bowyer will now revert to 4-4-2 with a proper winger so that we are at least on the front foot instead of lying deep and waiting for the inevitable to happen. Squeaky bum time is putting it mildly!/strong>
