Peakys top the Hatters

Andy Munro sees Blues win five-nil away at Luton.

Luton are no pushovers, with two wins out of three already this season, but they were no match for a competitive and well organised Blues at Kenilworth Road.

The home side could even have taken the lead early on but Blues stood firm and their resilience paid off with a towering header from Marc Roberts and once they’d gone a goal up they never really looked back. The new cult hero Tahith Chong ran riot with Ivan Sunjic doing the midfield ratting and Ryan Woods calm and composed in the middle.

However, perhaps the revelation was Jeremie Bela playing a proper wing-back role by doing the dirty work tackling back as well as using his undoubted ability; a tribute to Lee Bowyer’s managerial skills.

Scott Hogan put the ball into the back of the net at last. This will do his confidence no end of good and hopefully this match will trigger the goalscoring streak of which we know he’s capable. The subs also acquitted themselves well with Sanchez particularly showing that he’s not lost his trickery. Gary Gardner scored a bit of a worldy and then Chuka Aneke bundled the ball over the line, which again should be a confidence booster.

Five-nil away from home would be the world of dreams under the stilted footballing regime of our previous manager so let’s be thankful we have our club back, even if for the moment it is just on the pitch.
