Blues make a point

Andy Munro sees Blues draw with Barnsley.

Blues usually make a point of putting in a poor display before an international break, leaving supporters and players alike in a bad state of mind and stewing for a lengthy period.

It looked like it was going to be that way when Barnsley opened the scoring after six minutes and in the days of Spanish rule that probably would have been it. However, Lee Bowyer’s Blues are made of sterner stuff and not only did they get back on terms, through the impressive Juke, they had chances to win it.

Jeremie Bela had another impressive game combining trickery with some tantalising crosses whilst Tahita Chong continued with his impressive displays. With Ryan Woods also providing creativity, the Blues forward line certainly can’t complain about poor service.

Defensively, the side also looked more than decent with Marc Roberts, on a return to Barnsley, winning his aerial battles with the dangerous Cauley Woodrow and in front of our back three Ivan Sunjic was hoovering up anything that moved.

Overall the result was certainly a decent point on the road as the Bowyer revival continued. And all that without Troy Deeney.
