Blues draw nil-nil at Brentford with Andy Munro seeing further improvement.
A few weeks ago we could have only dreamed about only losing once in four horrific fixtures all against top six teams. There’s still plenty to do but Lee Bowyer is certainly making a footballing silk purse out of the sow’s ear left by
Blues certainly deserved a share of the spoils not only because of their tenacity but also some decent football on the break. This is despite the Juke having a fairly anonymous game against the imposing Ethan Pinnock. Personally, I might have left Scott Hogan on and gambled by bring on Jeremie Bela for Riley McGree but either way, fair play to Bowyer for bringing on two new forwards near the end of the game instead of making subs on a siege mentality basis.
Neil Etheridge, however, had to pull off some good saves not least against the prolific Ivan Toney and he could have been a man of the match contender but surely that has to go to yet another impressive driving performance from Gary Gardner. The back four also deserve a mention for a solid second half inthe face of increasing pressure. However, we now need to replicate this form and commitment against some of the lower placed sides and if anybody can make that happen surely it is our new manager. Hope is now springing eternal.
