Acorns seeks help for fundraiser

Charity calls for law firms to join Make a Will Month.

A charity which provides vital care and support for some of the most vulnerable children and families across the West Midlands is appealing for law firms to join its annual Make a Will Month scheme.

Each year Acorns Children Hospice invites local law firms to become Make a Will Month partners by providing a free will writing service during the month-long campaign.

This year’s scheme is taking place throughout the month of July and not only gives members of the public the opportunity to make plans for their family’s future but also consider a gift to support Acorns in years to come.

Lindsay Mottram, Legacy and In Memory Manager at Acorns, said: “Make a Will Month is a great way for local law firms to give back by playing a crucial role in Acorns fundraising efforts.

“It’s also an opportunity for firms to find potential new clients. It’s not just about wills; it introduces clients to other legal services they may want or need in the future.”

In the past year Acorns has cared for more than 800 children and 1,000 families, including those who are bereaved.

The charity has been at the forefront in the fight against coronavirus, supporting some of the most vulnerable local children and families impacted by the pandemic.

It costs Acorns around £10 million every year to run is services from its three hospices based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester and in the community, and the bulk of that amount comes from fundraising, corporate partnerships and donations.
