Sustained growth for eco-friendly heating company.
The UK’s first plastic-free firewood retailer, Love Logs, has already doubled its signature tree-planting promise from 2020 during the first six weeks of 2021 alone. Based in the Midlands, the business – which first launched during the summer lockdown last year – is marking its six-month anniversary by planting its 4,000th tree this week.
Love Logs has worked in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects since its inception last August to deliver part of its promise, to drive positive change in and set new precedents for the firewood industry across the UK.
Co-founded by Heather Emery and her partner, Paul Strachan, the independent start-up was launched to offer consumers more sustainable options when looking to buy firewood, after the pair noticed a spike in outdoor entertaining across the nation.
Commenting on its newest tree-planting milestone, Love Logs co-founder Heather Emery says: “We’re delighted to have started 2021 so strongly; having set ourselves the target of planting 1,500 trees by the end of 2020, we’re overwhelmed to have already beaten this figure by February 2020, just in time for our six-month anniversary!
“As a business, we’re committed to offering consumers sustainable products and want our customers to feel confident that by buying from us, they’re not only supporting a small business but also helping to contribute positively to climate change, via our tree-planting pledge in association with Eden Reforestation Projects.”
Love Logs stocks a range British firewood, kindling and natural firelighters and specialise in offering ‘Fuel Kit’ bundles for pizza ovens, chimineas, fire pits and log burners – which include everything you need to start and sustain a fire. Committed to sustainability while also ensuring accessibility for a wide demographic of customers via a fast-moving ecommerce business, Love Logs has one of the most diverse wood fuel offerings in the UK.
All of its firewood products are certified as Woodsure Ready to Burn, meaning they’re cleaner-burning for the environment and are delivered to customers’ doors across the UK in 100% plastic-free packaging. Remaining true to its independent roots, the business actively supports local suppliers whenever possible: its firelighters, for example, are manufactured just fifteen minutes away from its warehouse.
“Looking back over the past six months, we’re tremendously proud to have stuck to our guns despite facing many challenges and to be driving some real change in the industry despite our small size and brand-new presence in the market. With lockdown triggering such a rise in entertaining outdoors and a surge in chiminea and firepit sales, we’re confident that the demand for sustainable firewood will increase as we enter the spring and summer months of 2021.
“We’re pledging to remain fully sustainable as we grow and we’re always working on ways to do even better as a business. It’s our mission to help our customers make sustainable choices for both their home and the environment, as well as supporting British products and suppliers,” concluded Heather.
