New socially-distanced dining venture opens in Cotswolds

Glasshouses aim to bring safe fine dining to existing restaurant.

Cotswolds-based The Scenic Supper will re-open its unique, socially distanced dining experience from 1st April to 25th September 2021 at Todenham Manor Farm near Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire.

Building on its success since opening in July last year, The Scenic Supper is building seven, new bespoke glasshouses accommodating either two or four guests, set on a Cotswold hilltop with panoramic views and delicious monthly changing set menus of modern British dishes.

The brainchild of three local school friends, Toby Baggott, Sam Lawson-King and Scott Sullivan, The Scenic Supper was launched in response to lockdown and on-going Covid restrictions. Pre-lockdown, Toby worked in events management, Sam has a professional background in wine and hospitality as well as owning and making his own award-winning artisan gin, King Stone Gin, and Scott runs an outside catering business. Immediately affected by lockdown restrictions, the trio decided to launch a socially distanced dining experience using small, re-conditioned glasshouses accommodating two or four diners.

Championing local, seasonal produce is key to The Scenic Supper’s Farm to Fork ethos, while drinks, prepared and served from a newly constructed King Stone Gin Bar includes an enticing range of seasonal gin-based cocktails, English sparkling wines, a select choice of locally made beers and ciders, a short, but well-curated wine list of Old and New World varieties from £6.90 a glass and available by the bottle. Homemade mixers and soft drinks are also available.

The Scenic Supper’s inventive and flavourful dishes are prepared in an on-site kitchen within a recycled shipping container. The five course, monthly changing set menus cost £65 a head, with an additional sharing cheeseboard available for £40 for 4 people. Tables available from 6.30pm–10pm Thursdays–Saturdays from 1st April. A monthly-changing vegetarian menu is also available at every sitting and a vegan menu can be created on request.

All dietary requirements including gluten-intolerant, nut/dairy free can be accommodated to suit individual needs. Dishes and drinks are served by waiters wearing personal protective gear and adhering to all government guidelines.

The Scenic Supper menus include Todenham Manor Farm’s award-winning rare breeds beef and pork, with poultry, lamb and game sourced locally.

“We want to ensure that The Scenic Supper experience will be truly memorable. Even when Covid restrictions are eventually lifted, diners tell us they’re still keen to eat our range of dishes in our bespoke glasshouse and enjoy the panoramic views they offer,” says Toby Baggott.
