Saturday morning sessions aim to beat the lockdown and unearth budding stars.
Birmingham City FC Community Trust is making sure the next generation of Brummie football stars is staying sharp throughout lockdown with the introduction of its Saturday morning Zoom coaching sessions.
Staring each week at 10am, the FA qualified coaches from the Community Trust will be leading half an hour-long skills classes, focusing on a different aspect of the game per session – completely free of charge.
Craig Gill, sports development manager at Birmingham City FC Community Trust, said: “Saturday morning football training is a big part of a youngster’s week and during lockdown we want to keep that routine in place. Fitness and health are essential and doing some simple drills with a ball at their feet will help with that, as well as keeping them sharp for when football returns.
“We’re working hard throughout the week too, putting on classes, wellbeing calls and supporting the community close to St. Andrew’s as best we can. That’s why we’ve made our Zoom sessions as accessible as possible – all you need is a football and a very small space.”
