Andy Munro watches Blues win at Preston.
Blues recorded their first back to back win sequence thanks to yet another last gasp-winner against a Preston side who we have struggled to beat for a countless number of seasons.
Early on, almost before I was able to settle into my virtual seat, following good work by Leko the end result was a fine
As convincing as we were in the first half, then the Lilywhites were in the second period but we kept them at arms length,
Karanka style, apart from two brilliant saves by the excellent Etheridge. We then snatched a winner through sub Gary Gardner who yet again proved the value of a box to box goalscoring midfielder. The excellent cross was predictably provided by San Jose, who had yet another influential game.
Perhaps it’s worth noting that Blues’ first half dominance was underpinned by the early energy of Leko and McGree before that energy diminished but their fitness will undoubtedly improve game by game and should herald some exciting times ahead. It’s also worth highlighting an excellent performance by Dacres Cogley, who I always thought was jettisoned out of the first team squad too soon by previous managers. The youngster still has a lot to contribute at first team level.
All in all, a good day at the office.
