Autumn season launched for Stratford orchestra.
Orchestra of the Swan has announced its autumn season, which sees the orchestra performing in the round and giving two repeat concerts (at 6pm and 8.30pm) on each date at its Stratford-upon-Avon home for the first time since the start of lockdown.
On 6th October, as part of the Stratford Music Festival, the orchestra will return with a concert ranging in tone from the pathos of Max Richter’s On the nature of Daylight via the elegance of Jean-Philippe Rameau culminating in the exquisite Aaron
On 17th November, duets are explored through the double concertos of J.S. Bach and Astor Piazzolla featuring Craig Ogden and Miloš Milivojević.
On 1st December, you will experience an adventure of musical delights in company with the fascinating Joseph Bologne, the minimalist Michael Nyman, the influential Philip Glass and finishing with the greatest composer of all time: Mozart.
Everything is subject to change due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 but OOTS has worked with the venue to adhere to the government guidelines. David Le Page, Artistic Director of Orchestra of the Swan, explains: “Seeing OOTS perform live in the autumn will be a necessarily different experience but our first concern must be for your safety and for the well-being of our players. These are strange times and the world has changed, but we need the nourishment of live music more than ever.”
The highly successful cross-genre Night Owl Series will be online only: Luna, available from 5th November, is a unique musical experience inspired by planet earth’s mysterious neighbour and Wind, Sand & Stars, available from 8th December, explores the pre-war world from the minimalist chords of Satie to the exquisite world of Ravel; from the exotic flavours of Debussy to Montmartre Chanson. These two concerts will be filmed and recorded without an audience in a unique and ‘arty’ way and available on OOTS’ website for thirty days from the published date.
In addition, Orchestra of the Swan’s Timelapse album will be released on Signum in February 2021. So, despite all the uncertainty, there’s never been a busier time for the Orchestra with lots of great ways to experience high-quality music.
