Live music coming back to Digbeth

The Novus set to return to the scene of past glory.

September 2019 seems such a long time ago; Stourbridge four piece The Novus organised and headlined their biggest ever Birmingham gig at a secret location in a large event space in Digbeth that can hold over 1,000 people and partitioned off part to sell out tickets and entertain over 400 music fans.

Now in 2020 a year on, on the anniversary, the band are organising a much different event in the same venue, where the whole space will be used to keep the audience as safe and socially distanced as possible, following all the government guidelines. It will be one of the first indoor live music events in the UK after pilots featuring the likes of Frank Turner, have taken place.

Singer Connor Hills says, “We had a bit of a setback when the Prime Minister recently announced that the date when live indoor music events could start was to be pushed back from 1st to the 15th August but we have been working hard on this and are confident it can happen if we follow all the guidelines to keep the audience safe. It is unique doing a gig like this because all along it is a dialogue between us and the audience to make sure they understand all the steps we are taking.

“Ultimately we want to create a special night to welcome live music back to Birmingham with a line-up including some national names and giving opportunities to other local bands and musicians.”

In the lead up to the event the band are also hosting a video vlog on their YouTube channel, detailing the ups and downs of their return to the live stage.
