Recognition for Covid-19 support effort in the community.
A transport service that has been delivering vital medical supplies and groceries during Covid-19 is celebrating its fifteenth birthday in style.
One 4 You Services Ltd, which employs 200 drivers and operational staff from its base in Netherton, has provided a vital lifeline for Black Country people and the NHS and has been rewarded for its efforts with a major award.
Run by entrepreneurs Abrar Ahmed and Asjad Jameel, the company has been recognised by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council for its commitment to the local area, beating off competition from other fleet operators to be named Outstanding Contractor in
The accolade underlines the firm’s desire to offer a trusted and reliable taxi service, utilising its impressive range of private hire cars, hackney cabs, tail lift vehicles for wheelchair users and public service vehicles.
“When we set the business up fifteen years ago, we wanted to change the perception people had of transport services for being unreliable and unprofessional,” explained Abrar.
“Other fleet operators were not treating their staff right and professionalism was rarely in place – we wanted to change that and One 4 You Services was born with a commitment to providing a service people could trust, be priced realistically and would look the part, especially for public sector contracts.”
He continued: “It has been a long journey, but we have grown every year and the latest award from Dudley MBC proves that our approach is working and is respected.
“Covid-19 has been a really tough time, but all of our staff have gone above and beyond to support the most vulnerable and shielding people of the Black Country by continuing to offer essential services, including transporting NHS staff, picking up and delivering prescriptions and fetching groceries.
“We have also been able to raise much needed funds for Crystal Day Centre in Stourbridge, which supports people with dementia and mental health. I matched what our staff achieved and we ended up donating £1000.”
One 4 You Services operates across Birmingham, Dudley, Halesowen, Staffordshire, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton, delivering school meals, adult and social services contracts and school to home transportation.
The latter requires the company to pick children up from their homes and escort them to their place of education and return them after they have studied. This can sometimes be with vulnerable children and, in order to provide the friendliest service possible, it tries to create a familiar environment by allocating the same driver and escort per child.
In addition to the public sector contracts, One 4 You Services also provides reliable private hire and airport transfer services.
Asjad Jameel concluded: “The Outstanding Contractor award is fantastic for our staff and for all their hard work. We will also use it to promote our business, especially when competing for additional work in Birmingham and Walsall.
“We are very proud to be a Black Country business and pleased we could play a small role in keeping the area moving during Covid-19.”
