New factory-built homes craned onto site as sales office reopens.
Joint venture partners Urban Splash and Places for People – the collaborators currently transforming Port Loop in Birmingham in partnership with landowners Birmingham City Council and Canal and River Trust – have delivered more modular homes to the island neighbourhood this week – with ten new homes craned into place in just four working days.
Safe recommencement of works on site began on 4th May, with new measures put in place to protect the health and wellbeing of colleagues. Adhering to government guidelines, construction resumed on the creation of Brick House homes – 37 mews-style
Project director for the development, Adam Willetts, said: “We are delighted to have made a safe return to Port Loop, protecting the health and wellbeing of our colleagues and upholding our commitment to creating new homes.”
From this week, the partners will also reopen the Port Loop sales office on a strictly appointment-only basis. Visitors will only be permitted inside the show home if a pre-arranged appointment has been made, and will be asked to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines; signage will be in place throughout the show home and PPE provided. Adam continued: “The Government guidance is very clear, and we have put measures in place so we can welcome customers safely back to site.”
Alongside the reopening of sales offices, customers can also continue to view homes via the Urban Splash virtual viewings platform which allows them to take tours of new homes from afar. Customers can immerse themselves thanks to 360-degree images showing the modular Town Houses as well as the Glenn Howells Architects designed Brick House homes – also currently available at Port Loop.
The news comes just a week after a planning application was submitted for the next phase of the neighbourhood which will include houses, as well as Port Loop’s first apartments created using MMC. Adam concluded: “Our future plans will bring brand new housing typologies to Port Loop, providing variety, interest and high quality homes whilst complementing and extending the established character of the site. We look forward to progressing with them in the near future.”
