Students perform online jam tribute of classic anthem.
Birmingham Rockschool are keeping students performing together, even through the lockdown which forced the closure of their studio. Birmingham Rockschool is a family business run by mother and daughter Sharon and Gemma Lawler, and has been running in the south of Birmingham for over twelve years, delivering fun performance-based music lessons from their custom built studio in Kings Norton.
The music school transitioned to a fully online experience ten weeks ago, and they have been keeping their students of all ages involved in the music community with their unique online Digital Jam sessions.
This week, they payed homage to local Brummie legends ELO with a fantastic Digital Jam of Mr Blue Sky which featured 54 students, tutors and choir members.
Birmingham Rockschool Co-Owner and Director Gemma Lawler says, “We are so proud of our fantastic Rockschool community – both here in Birmingham, and all over the web – YOU ROCK! This is our seventh Digital Jam, and more are planned over the coming weeks! The videos are put together by our fantastic drum tutor and videographer Adam Harris of Seventh Sky Media – his average turnaround has been only 48 hours from student submissions to getting the video live – it’s a real team effort and we’re thrilled to be able to give our students and their families something positive to focus on in these uncertain times.”
