The National Youth Swimming Gala is an annual event organised by British Blind Sport for blind and partially sighted people and has been held successfully for over twenty years. But it wasn’t all serious – BBS also held beginners swimming lessons for anyone who wanted to build their confidence in the water. They also had diving lessons on offer, delivered by ex-Olympian and Commonwealth diver Sarah Barrow who gave tips, instructions and encouragement to anyone who wanted to improve their diving – and the queue was endless!
Alex Pitts, National Partnerships Manager, said, “We were thrilled with the turnout and the success of our Annual National Youth Swimming Gala 2020. It was great to see so many smiley faces, lots of laughter and a large cohort of children going home with medals round their necks. It was particularly great to have the support of Swim England who provided some fantastic diving lessons, which proved a huge hit with all of our participants. We hope to continue with this blossoming partnership for our future galas.”
