Breast Cancer haven launches bra banks

Raise funds for cancer charity and help the developing world.

Bra banks are appearing across the region this week as Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands launches its first bra bank scheme, helping to raise vital funds needed to support all those affected by the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis.

The idea is simple, place a bra bank in your workplace or community and start collecting unwanted, old, new and worn bras. The bras will be collected by textile recyclers, which will raise funds for Breast Cancer Haven. The bras are then sorted and sent around the globe to women in the developing world.

Bras in any condition are welcome and the materials can be easily recycled so they won’t end up in landfill sites making this an environmentally friendly scheme.

A number of businesses already have their bra banks in place including: Lil-lets offices at Radcliff House, Arval at Birmingham Business Park and Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Clinic. Bras are also being accepted at Breast Cancer Haven, West Midlands centre in St Bernard’s Road, Solihull.

If you have a business with a large number of employees, own a shop with a changing facility, or are involved with a local community group that may be suitable for a bra bank, please get in touch with Ashleigh Adams on 0121 726 9571 or ashleigh.adams@breastcancerhaven.org.uk
