Birmingham charity stages run with a difference

On your marks for the Doggy Dash.

Are you and your four-legged friend looking to shake up your Sunday morning stroll? Well, look no further as a new ‘pawsome’ family event is coming to the West Midlands.

The 5k Doggy Dash will be held in the scenic settings of Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens on Sunday 29 September at 10.30am. As well as being a fun day out for all the family, doggy dashers will be raising money for Birmingham’s John Taylor Hospice and helping to support hundreds of local families in need of hospice care.

“We are so excited to launch this new fundraising event for dog owners and their canine companions,” said Emily Boate, Community and Events Fundraising Manager at John Taylor Hospice. “The Doggy Dash is the pawfect fun-packed way to spend your Sunday with fellow dog lovers!

“The event will be non-competitive with a relaxed atmosphere so you can pick your pace. And, when you cross the finish line, you and your pooch will be presented with a Doggy Dash medal in recognition of your achievements.

“Whether you run, jog or walk the 5K route, you’ll be raising vital funds for local families and helping to ensure hospice care and support is always there for people – when and where they need it.”

Doggy Dash tickets are priced at £10 per adult and £6 for children. Children under the age of two go free. Family tickets – for two adults and two children – are priced at £30. Registration fees include entry to the event and access to the gardens until 4.30pm that day.

Emily added: “We can’t wait to welcome lots of families and their best buddies to the event on 29 September. So, please join us for a fun jog with your dog and sign up for your ticket today – you’d be barking to miss out!”
