Reward offered in murder enquiry

Crimestoppers charity offers a £10,000 reward to find killer of Walsall teenager Rezwan Ali.

Crimestoppers charity is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the murder of teenager Rezwan Ali.

Rezwan was stabbed at a house party in Walsall on 14th January 2018. Police were called to a disturbance in Willows Road, Chuckery at around 1.45am, where Rezwan, a 19-year-old student, was discovered in the kitchen, bleeding from a knife wound to his chest.

It is believed he was stabbed after a fight broke out. Friends had tried to save him by performing emergency resuscitation, but without success.

Crimestoppers charity is now offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information the charity receives that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for this murder.

Hafsa Khatun, Rezwan’s sister, said: “It has been over a year since we lost Rezwan and we still feel the same pain as we felt that night. We continue to question why this happened to our Rezwan.

“Not for a single moment did we, as Rezwan’s family, think we would be writing a tribute for him. His smile made others smile, his laughter was everything. Rezwan was a smart boy, he always hit the top marks. He had the biggest and kindest heart.

“As Rezwan’s family, we plea to the person who was involved in this attack – or anyone who knows who was responsible – to please come forward and do the right thing. To those responsible – you did not just not take our boy away from us, but you have forever left a hole in our hearts.”

Fiona McCormack, Director of Operations at the charity Crimestoppers, added: “It has been just over a year since Rezwan was tragically and senselessly murdered. My thoughts are with his family and friends. We know they are all desperate for answers, which is why we are putting up a reward. I would encourage anybody with information about this murder to do the right thing and contact us.

“You will be helping to bring justice for Rezwan and his loved ones and we promise that you will remain completely anonymous. In over 30 years we have always kept our promise of 100% anonymity to everyone who trusts our charity with their crime information.

“Remember that your information could help keep someone safe from future harm. Our UK Contact Centre is open 24/7 on 0800 555 111 or you can use our anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No-one will know you contacted us and it could be your information that makes a huge difference.”
