Andy Munro watches Blues go down 3-2 at the Hawthorns.
Undoubtedly, Albion plundered the points when at the very least, Blues deserved a share of the spoils. However, when your luck’s out, things seem to conspire with an unwarranted but key penalty decision rubbing salt into the EFL wounds.
Despite the loss, there were some plus points with the Juke back on the scoring trail which may be key in the forthcoming matches and Dave Davies and Isaac Vassell continuing to progress towards optimum fitness.
Lucky or unlucky, we are undeniably in the middle of a bad run but it’s no worse than Villa’s recent run when some claret and blue fans were even calling for Dean Smith’s head before he turned it around into an excellent run of form. Likewise, we are capable of turning things around but with a couple of Saturday’s results not going our way, every match is now a cup final.
It’s a shame to be in this state when you consider how well we played against Preston and in the first half against the Baggies but we’ve got to continue to keep the faith as fans supporting our team. A particular concern has to be the fragility of our defence – decent on paper but not quite right in practice, not helped by Lee Camp still blowing a bit hot and cold in terms of stopping goalbound shots. With Leeds and Sheffield United next, it’s not going to get any easier anytime soon.
