Henley restaurant launches new tasting menu

Butchers Social serves up nine-course spectacular.

Warwickshire-based bar and restaurant, The Butchers Social, has launched a brand-new tasting menu that sees the finest seasonal produce served up in the pub’s renowned relaxed atmosphere. Taking flavours that really pack a punch, this new nine-course tasting menu is accompanied by a refreshed a la carte menu, both of which celebrate proper food without the pretence.

Based in Henley-in-Arden, The Butchers Social has been pushing boundaries since it opened in 2016; providing locals and visitors alike with a friendly approach to finer dining. The new tasting menu, which has been crafted by owner and Chef Director, Mike Bullard, kicks off with a tartare of venison and mushroom ketchup followed by a pan-fried scallop and foie gras crumble.

Celeriac risotto follows, with glazed pig cheek, pan fried cod and lamb wellington, finished off with roast banana sorbet, and a mango and caramelised white chocolate cremeux.

Priced at £70 per person, the menu offers diners a small taste of just what the restaurant is renowned for – hearty and delicious food that tastes as good as it looks.

“The Butchers Social has always been about serving up the best possible food in a more relaxed environment than traditional restaurants. In the kitchen, we aim to create dishes that have familiarity – food that people know and love – but taking it to the next level. That’s why we’ve launched a tasting menu; to celebrate the sophistication of our a la carte menu and showcase that we can remove the formalities of traditional dining without compromising on incredible quality food,” comments owner, Mike Bullard.

Alongside the new tasting menu, The Butchers Social has also announced a refreshed main menu selection. Keeping some original favourites on the list including the famous salted caramel chicken wings and its fabulous range of 35-day aged steaks, including 9oz and 12oz ribeyes and fillet steaks, The Butchers Social has also featured some new dishes that are certain to become favourites. From the rabbit and smoked eel rillettes, and masala roast corn fed chicken, to the apple tart tatin and Rum Baba with roasted pineapple, this new winter menu is packed full of flavour.

Mike continued: “We like to keep our menu fresh throughout the year and ensure we’re creating dishes using the best seasonal ingredients. Our food is bold and exciting, which is what I think people want these days; whether it’s street food or Michelin-starred, everyone is expecting more of restaurants and that’s absolutely how it should be.

“The Butchers Social was always intended as somewhere that I’d want to spend my days off, and where the team love food as much as the people eating it. Now we’ve just added a way for diners to experience a whistle-stop tour of the menu, with the ability to come back and keep eating their favourite dishes again and again.”

Having started life as a pop-up in a disused butcher’s shop in Harborne, The Butchers Social has now become one of Warwickshire’s leading restaurants, after moving to its Henley-in-Arden home in 2016. The 60-cover restaurant also boasts a bar and large beer garden, welcoming diners from near and far to sample food that critics are calling “one to watch”.
