Hospitals choir performing at Town Hall to aid CLIC Sargent.
The Midlands Hospitals’ Choir will be holding its 36th annual concert on Friday 14th December at Birmingham Town Hall in support of the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Led by James Llewelyn Jones, the Choir, made up of 100 medical professionals and friends from across the Midlands, will be accompanied by the fantastic Gemini Brass and their regular pianist Melissa Morris. Jody Smith, an exceptionally talented young violinist also joins the line-up, along with young singers from Dodderhill School.
Last year, over £3,000 was raised for CLIC Sargent and this year they hope to reach an even higher target.
Susan Buckingham from Midlands Hospitals’ Choir says: “We are delighted to be staging this concert in support of our chosen charity, CLIC Sargent. We have supported the children’s cancer charity since our first concert in 1982, when it was Sargent Cancer Care for Children, named after the great British composer Sir Malcolm Sargent.
“Members of our audience last year were delighted to see young people showcased and were pleased with the variety of the programme which they found to be very uplifting and a change for the better. We’d encourage people to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager, Katie West adds: “The Midlands Hospitals’ Choir’s concerts are a fantastic way to get into the festive spirit and support young live vs cancer at the same time. Last year our teams based at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital supported over 570 children and young people with cancer, and their families. We’re only able to do this thanks to the generous support that we receive from events like these.”
Tickets for the concert cost between £10 and £20 (£5 for age 16 and under) and are available from the Town Hall Box Office.
When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. Donations at the concert will help CLIC Sargent provide vital services, including nurses and care professionals in hospital, grants to help families meet extra costs and free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation close to the main children’s cancer centres.
