Andy Munro watches Blues’ impressive form continue with a 3-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday.
Make no mistake, Wednesday looked a very good side in the first half and to make it worse ex-Villain Barry Bannan was the architect of many of their moves.
It was therefore no surprise that they went one up through Fletcher and in the first half could easily have been out of sight. Pederson was having the proverbial mare along with Gary Gardner and Klefenbeld and too many to mention and things weren’t helped when Harlee Deane limped off.
In fairness, Blues started to take a bigger part in the game in the closing ten minutes of the first period but it was still a shock when the distinctly unimpressive Mahoney showed what he can really do with a superlative shot into the corner as he was cutting in.
Spurred on by this unexpected leveller, Blues poured forward after the restart to give the Wednesday defence a torrid time. They then took the lead when Jota’s floated cross was superbly headed home by the Juke who wanted it more than his two attending defenders.
Adams then added a third to give the win some gloss and Gary Monk seems unable to do anything wrong. Even his initially apparent strange substitution of taking Mahoney off and replacing with defender Wes harding proved a masterstroke. Harding’s pace proved a defensive asset and Pederson (who apparently started life as a winger, but you could have fooled me on that one) had a hand in the third goal using his strength and persistence. This substitution helped us keep our shape and garner another impressive three points.
