Discover the fascinating history of Cadbury

Cadbury’s rich history on display during Birmingham Heritage Week.

Visitors to Cadbury World are invited to discover the fascinating history of the Cadbury brand this Heritage Week, through a series of talks and tours at the Bournville-based attraction from Monday 10th–Friday 14th September.

The complimentary Heritage Week events have been designed to offer an additional experience for Cadbury World visitors, who can learn about Bournville’s fascinating past with a sneak peek into Birmingham’s unique‘Factory in a Garden. Discover the revolutionary thinking of John Cadbury at Heritage Talks on Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th September, and follow his family on their campaigns for justice, equality and social reform, striving to put an end to poverty and deprivation.

On Monday 10th, Wednesday 12th and Friday 14th September, guests are invited to join an informative guide on the picturesque Walking Tour. Visitors will step back in time and explore the journey of Bournville over the last 140 years, taking in its beautiful architecture, the unique village green and pretty tree-lined streets.

Those booking onto a Heritage Tour or Talk will also benefit from a 20% discount in the Cadbury Café.

Back at Cadbury World, continue your fascinating journey and see where the magic began by stepping into 1824 to explore a full-scale replica of Bull Street where John Cadbury opened his first ever shop. Elsewhere in the attraction, discover the origins of the cocoa bean in the Aztec Jungle before learning how your favourite confectionery is made in the Manufacturing zone.

Visitors can watch the famous drumming gorilla in action as they take a walk down Advertising Avenue to see how many other Cadbury advertising campaigns they can remember from over the years, as well as watch the attraction’s talented chocolatiers reveal the secrets of traditional chocolate making before choosing a treat – from marshmallows to popping candy – to add to a delicious pot of warm melted Cadbury Dairy Milk.

With fourteen chocolatey zones to enjoy plus lots more on offer, including The World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop and the Cadbury Café, Heritage Week is the perfect time to enjoy a historical day out that’s choc-full of fun.

Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating Heritage Week once again this year, as it gives the public a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating history of Cadbury confectionery as well being a wonderful way to commemorate the Cadbury family’s legacy here in Birmingham.”
